Original character. Roughed in sketchbook; colored in Photoshop.

TJ : Less QQ    Tech talk (too many media to count)

Original characters. This was a fun way to test various inks and techniques for a comic project I'm working on.

Female nude, 10 and 20 minutes. Sold.

Head and shoulders   Life Drawing, August 6

Drawn with whatever I had in my purse.

More experimenting with colour. Female nude.

Life Drawing   Life Drawing   (coloured pencil)

20 minute life drawing.

Guinan   Ten Forward   (pencil & Sharpie marker)

10-minute pen/Sharpie doodle. I'm a nerd...

Life Drawing In Coloured Pencil Life Drawing In Coloured Pencil Life Drawing In Coloured Pencil   Life Drawings (coloured pencil)

15, 20, and 30 minute poses. I decided to draw the model according to what secondary or under-tones appeared in her skin, making for a sort of super-saturated, fauvist look. Or something sophisticated-sounding like that.

BWLD1 BWLD2 BWLD3   Life Drawings (Sharpie)

1-minute poses. I tried only drawing the shadows.

Male Nude, 15 mins   Life Drawing: Male  (pencil)

15-minute pose. The model was a 67-year-old triathlete. Probably my favorite of all the models; it was a real challenge to draw looser skin over defined muscle.

Backpage Graphic   The Back Page  (charcoal and conte on natural paper)

I drew this intending to send it in to the Austin Chronicle to see if they'd use it, but there was no contact info available regarding that section. Oh well.

BobDog   The Glamorous BobDog  (charcoal and conte on natural paper)

Just a sketch of our puppy as he sleeps. What do dogs dream about...?

By suduses are cudgested   Allergies  (Painter 9.0)

Quick digital self-portrait done while suffering a sinus headache during a slow work day. The chin and lower half of the face are much too large, but I like the brushstrokes and colour anyway. Done in 2002 or 2003.

Fire Mage   Fire Wielder/Mage (pencil, Photoshop 7.0)

Done for a "design an RPG character" contest. So many RPGs draw their design from medieval Europe and Tolkein-ish stuff that I wanted to try basing this character's dress on Polynesian dancers. Click here to see it in colour.

Freedom From Ridicule   Freedom From Ridicule  (Painter 5.0)

This is the kind of thing I draw when I'm angry or frustrated. Some people like my work in this vein; some hate it. I think this might make a nice tattoo.

Here Come The Socketmen   The Socketmen  (Painter 5.0)

Painter sketch of a dream I had back in 2003. I've had several requests for this one as a print - the original file has been lost, but I plan to do a rework of this someday soon.

Night Owl   Night Owl  (Painter 5.0)

Drew this shortly after finishing Watchmen in 2002 - I used Painter's Scratchboard Pen tool.

William H. Macy   William H. Macy  (Painter 5.0)

Painter speedpainting done from photo reference - one of my first shots at speedpainting, and the first time using a customized Camel Hair brush tool.

Dancers & Drum   Dancers & Drum  (pencil)

Gesture drawings of belly dancers.

Pirate Girl   Pirate Girl  (Painter 5.0)

Sketch from 2002. I never did get a good reference image for the pistol I wanted to add in...

Street sketch   Street sketch  (Painter 5.0, Photoshop 7.0)

Background sketch for a character CG. 2001 or 2002.
